Tools
- carrier_profile — Complete public carrier profile: census, authority, insurance, history, BOC-3 and available safety source counts with individual snapshot dates. Missing data is unknown.
- lookup_motus — Attributed authority, insurance, revocation and BOC-3 data. Cursor pagination; historical records are not a current-status verdict.
- search — Search FMCSA entities by USDOT/MC identifier or legal-name prefix. Returns source IDs for fetch, for research clients.
- fetch — Fetch a census record from an O Trucking search result id such as dot:2247289. Returns source and snapshot date.
- lookup_carrier — Look up a registered FMCSA entity by USDOT, MC, FF or MX. Returns attributed census data, not an authority/insurance/credit verdict.
- search_carriers — Company legal-name prefix search, optionally filtered by two-letter state. Maximum 10 results; no unbounded database scan.
- decode_vin — Decode a 17-character VIN using the public NHTSA API. Not a title, recall-completion or vehicle-history check.
- trucking_sources — Get official source references and limited curated summaries for a trucking question. Does not search the full live web.
- data_status — Get actual ingestion coverage, snapshot date and mirror record count.
Example
Look up USDOT 2247289. Cite the source and snapshot date. Then retrieve the Motus authority records for the same USDOT.
